Absztrakt: A tanulmány a Bécsben mai napig működő Diplomáciai Akadémia történetét foglalja össze röviden, mely intézmény múltja egészen Mária Terézia koráig visszanyúlik. Habár a II. világháború alatt és után egy ideig működését felfüggesztették, ma újra előkelő intézménynek számít. Az Akadémia a magyar diplomaták képzésében is fontos szerepet játszott, és különösen a dualizmusban több magyar hallgatója fontos pozíciót töltött be a Monarchia külügyi szolgálatában. Az intézmény megismerése az idén induló Magyar Diplomáciai Akadémia számára is szolgálhat tanulságokkal, ezért tanulmányomban röviden összefoglalom a bécsi Akadémia létrejöttének okait. A dualizmus időszakában volt a legtöbb magyar vonatkozása, így a hangsúlyt is erre a korszakra helyeztem.

Abstract: This short essay focuses on the history of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, active today as well, whose history began during the reign of Queen Maria Theresa. Despite having closed its doors during and after the Second World War, this institute is again considered of great prestige. The Academy played an important role in the training of Hungarian diplomats too, and especially during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy many of his Hungarian pupils had important jobs in the foreign service of the Monarchy. The informations about the institute would also be useful because the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy starts in this autumn, so I summarize the reasons for the founding of the Vienna Academy. Hungarian connections were the most intensive during dualism, therefore this period became of the center of this study.
