Absztrakt: Pablo Escobar személye sokak számára csenghet ismerősen a világban, ám a megítélése manapság is összetett. Meglátásunk szerint a 2010-es évek során antihősök iránt érzett enyhe szimpátiával kezdtünk tekinteni egy kegyetlen drogbáró életére, tevékenységére, miközben perifériára soroljuk azokat a cselekedeteit, melyek belső konfliktusba sodorták Latin-Amerika egyik legnépesebb országát az 1980-90-es években. Életrajzi jelleget öltő elemzésünk célja, hogy jelenünk számos Escobar-feldolgozása mellett hiteles képet adjunk a szervezett bűnözés történetének egyik legjelentősebb alakjáról. Egyszerre tekintünk forrásként a családtagok és az eseményektől függetlenebb kutatók elmondásaira, írásaira, mellyel célunk egy összetett ábrázolás olvasó elé tárása. Ezen munka motivációja továbbá az is, hogy ne felejtsük el – 30 évvel a címszereplő halála után, pozitív tónusú nosztalgiázás közepette –, hogy pontosan ki volt ő, illetve milyen hatást gyakorolt egy ország, de talán az egész amerikai kontinens életére.

Abstract: The character of Pablo Escobar may sound familiar to the whole world, but his judgment is still difficult today. In our opinion, by the slight sympathy for anti-heroes in the 2010s, we begin to view the life and activities of a cruel drug baron, meanwhile we ignore the actions that actually plunged one of Latin America’s most populous countries into internal conflict in the 1980s and 1990s. The purpose of our biographical analysis is to provide a credible picture of one of the most significant member of the history of organized crime in addition to the many Escobar pieces of the present. We simultaneously look at the stories and writings of family members and independent researchers as a source. We present different types of descriptions per event, as we do not have completely authentic information about them, however we try to describe them as detailed as possible. The goal of this work is also to remember – 30 years after the main character’s death, amidst a positive tone of nostalgia – who exactly Escobar was and what impact he had on a country, but perhaps the whole American continent.
